The first season left off with Jesse and friends defeating the Wither Storm and saving the world. Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off, with Jesse having a more complicated life as a hero.
All that we know right now is that friendships have begun to fade, but they may be rekindled after Jesse gets his hand stuck in “a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple”. Over the course of this season, players will be reunited with old characters and meet new friends along their journey.

The first episode, titled “Hero in Residence”, will be released on July 11, 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. Telltale’s “Crowd Play” will also be included in Season 2, allowing for multiplayer interaction that will affect gameplay.
The game will feature the voices of Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter, as well as some well known Minecraft YouTubers such as Stampy Cat and Stacyplays. It will also feature at least one temperamental llama.
