The TicWatch E3 also offers Vo2Max tracking to gauge your overall cardio fitness based on how well your body uses oxygen when you’re gunning a workout. Another common addition to the latest breed of fitness trackers (opens in new tab) is SpO2 monitoring (oxygen saturation), and the TicWatch E3 is equipped with a sensor to offer 24-hour SpO2 monitoring via the TixOxygen app. The Mobvoi TicWatch E3 has ported over many health features from the existing TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, including sleep tracking and stress monitoring, but focuses more directly on mental wellbeing in addition to physical health. While we’re yet to review Mobvoi’s newcomer for our best smartwatch (opens in new tab) guide, the TicWatch E3 looks promising on paper and should be a step-up from the generally well-received E2.

Mobvoi TicWatch E3: Design, features and apps
The TicWatch E3 is the tenth addition to Mobvoi’s growing smartwatch range, and while basic in its design, it’s better-looking than the budget E2 and not as bulky or heavy (only 32g) as the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS ($299.99). The E3 comes in a choice of strap colors, including blue, black and neon yellow (which doesn’t look so neon to us), with a 1.3-inch High Density Display (2.5D curved glass) for viewing all your stats and smartphone (opens in new tab) notifications. The interchangeable sweat-proof strap is a 20mm silicone rubber number. In terms of features, the TicWatch E3 offers 24/7 heart rate tracking, with a weekly graph generated in the companion app. If any changes are detected, you’ll be notified on the watch. There are plenty of other sensors at work too, including all-day blood oxygen saturation monitoring. But this isn’t a new innovation - Samsung, Apple and Fitbit already do it. The 20+ workout modes include climbing, swimming, pilates, running (Mobvoi also makes a folding treadmill (opens in new tab)), and indoor cycling on exercise bikes (opens in new tab). The TicMotion app automatically detects your workouts and starts tracking heart rate, calories, and Vo2 Max among other metrics. If you love cycling outdoors, take advantage of the TicWatch E3’s built-in GPS and GLONASS positioning to help you track your route and find new trails to explore. For us, the most interesting new health app for the E3 is TicCare, which enables you to help your family members or housemates to get a picture of their current health. This includes heart rate, daily steps, and sleep quality. Details are scant on this particular feature right now, but it sounds promising - especially for older family members who have no means to track their own wellness. In terms of mental wellbeing, the TicWatch E3 is home to TicZen, which monitors your stress levels then uses the TicBreathe app to bring your stress levels back down to normal. For guided breathing to help you de-stress, we’d also recommend the best meditation apps (opens in new tab).
