Windows 10 Timeline Feature While the current Task View shows the thumbnails of your open apps and other items, Windows Timeline will show up to 30 days of past activity across devices. There is a new Task View icon located next to the Cortana search box in the lower-left corner of the taskbar. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Tab to launch it. You will see the apps you have open at the top and below that, you see a list of activities you were doing in the past....

The personal version of Microsoft Teams is now available for friends and family members. This feature was teased nearly a year ago and it launched today for everyone. Microsoft Teams for personal use will offer free 24-hour video calls for up to 300 people in video calls that can last for 24 hours. The company says it will eventually enforce limits of 60 minutes for group calls of up to 100 people after the pandemic, but will keep 24-hour individual calls....

The vulnerability is rather critical, as it can give hackers access to your machine by exploiting an Escalation of Privilege and Denial of Service flaw. When a criminal manages to get into your PC, Escalation of Privilege leads to the creation of a profile with administrator rights. Through this action, users can be locked out of their computer, unwanted software can be downloaded and installed, or the computer can be used in a massive botnet....

Completely new features in this build of Windows 11 include support for snap groups in the ALT+TAB command menu, the introduction of a quicker way to add and remove media servers in the File Explorer menu, and the latest portion of the company’s “ongoing effort to bring over settings from Control Panel into the Settings app.” This final feature update, which has really been ongoing since Windows 10, sees the option to uninstall a given third-party app, as well as the option to uninstall Microsoft’s own Windows updates being moved over to the new settings interface....

But yesterday, Google Chrome appeared in a surprising way in the Windows application store. Does that mean that it has adapted to the standards of the Windows Store and now use EdgeHTML? Not really. What has happened is that Google has not included Google Chrome in its store, but an application that is called just as what it does is open the installation site of Google Chrome really. Basically, since the Edge browser has reached Android, and is present in the Play Store, they want to do the same (the only Edge has complied with the rules imposed by Microsoft, without cheating)....

After reports that Major League Baseball was running a trial of Apple’s new iBeacon technology to provide fans with a personalized, interactive experience at ballparks, Recode reports today that the league is about to announce it’s completed installation of the beacons at two stadiums. As reported previously, the league is hoping to have around 20 stadiums equipped with iBeacons by Opening Day in March. Those who hate subscription apps will be glad to hear that using Microsoft Office without a subscription will still be possible on the Mac with a new version launching next year. Microsoft has been increasingly pushing users towards its subscription-based Office 365 platform, while downplaying the alternative of a one-time purchase … The tech giant currently offers a range of outright purchase options for both PC and Mac, but it had been feared that Office 2019 might be the last of these....

These new machines, which are now on the market, have already been dissected and the result was not the most positive. Both the Surface Laptop and the Pro are virtually impossible to repair. Something that most do not contemplate when purchasing a computer is how simple or complicated the repair will be. For the past two years, Microsoft has offered Teams Rooms Standard and Teams Rooms Premium, but as of this week the company will offer customers Teams Rooms Basic and Teams Rooms Pro. The service has the same proposition: to improve meetings for remote and in-person participants with assistance managing and servicing Teams Rooms devices, Teams displays, and Surface devices. But the change introduces cost, licensing and functionality differences and the Standard and Premium inclusions don’t align exactly with the new Basic and Pro feature sets....

SentinalLabs researchers Juan Andres Guerrero-Saade and Max van Amerongen have detailed their discovery of a new destructive malware variant they call “AcidRain” — a Linux file format (ELF) binary designed to wipe modems and routers — that they contend knocked out thousands of Vista’s KA-SAT routers on February 24. AcidRain is the latest destructive malware discovered since Russia’s invasion on February 24, including WhisperGate, HermeticWiper, CaddyWiper, IssacWiper, and DoubleZero. SentinalLabs says AcidRain shares some similarities with stage 3 component of VPNFilter — the malware that Ukraine blocked in 2018 fearing an attack on its critical infrastructure and which prompted the FBI that year to tell everyone to reboot their routers to remove the malware....

If you do have it installed already, then you’re in luck – at least for a little while. Millennial Media just released their monthly mobile device trends report and here is our breakdown. For the month of November Apple led all devices manufactures with 25% of Millennial Media’s network with Samsung and Motorola coming in 2nd and 3rd with 17.3% and 15.33%, respectively. Apple’s iPhone came in first place for the most used mobile device on the network with 14.28% and Apple’s iPod touch came in second place with 8....
