And now Microsoft seems got itself back into Selfiestan (thank you for that term, Gionee – really!) with another new app that seems targeted at the selfie-snapping crowd – Sprinkles (or “Sprinkles – Camera With Fun Ideas,” to give it its full designation), which is currently iOS-only. Yes, we said “seems” because Microsoft itself has not said that the app is meant for just selfies but in the age of Snapchat and the like, we see this being very popular in the “go snap yourself” segment....

Microsoft has announced a slew of new features coming to its Office 365 suite of applications. Both the desktop and mobile versions of the applications have received updates, with Outlook for iOS adding Draft Sync, AI enhancements in Word for Mac, and more. Microsoft made the announcement in a blog post, first noting that Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word are gaining new Ink features. Two years after introducing the Surface Book, Microsoft has officially unveiled its sequel. Naturally, Microsoft is comparing the new Surface Book 2 laptop-tablet hybrid (not to be confused with the felt-covered Surface Laptop) to Apple’s MacBook Pro (since it can’t upset any OEM partners). If you can get around the whole using Windows thing, Surface Book 2 does have some impressive specs on paper… Surface Book 2 packs “the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and 1060 discrete graphics options” which Microsoft says makes it up to five times faster than the original Surface Book and “twice as powerful as the latest MacBook Pro....

The screen is big and beautiful. The trackpad is big. The keyboard feels a bit bouncy; as you type the keys almost spring back up, which makes it feel like there’s more travel than there actually is. The keyboard keys are boring grey plastic rather than the metallic look of the Surface Book keyboard, but you may find that higher contrast, especially if you use the keyboard backlight. The camera copes better with the brightness of the window I sit in front of in the office than any other Surface I’ve tried....

Ostensibly born into show-business in 1955, Ferrer was the oldest child of famed singer Rosemary Clooney and actor Jose Ferrer. Before becoming an actor, Ferrer worked with is mother, playing drums and touring with her and Bing Crosby. He also played drums for Keith Moon’s album Two Sides of the Moon....

Miburo is based in New York City. According to its LinkedIn profile, the company specializes in social media investigations and countering disinformation. Miburo and founder Clint Watts will become part of Microsoft’s Customer Security and Trust organization. Miburo will work with the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center, its Threat Context Analysis team and others at the company to help Microsoft expand its threat detection and analysis capabilities. Specifically, according to a blog post announcing the acquisition by Tom Burt, Corporate Vice President of Customer Security and Trust, Miburo also will “shed light on the ways in which foreign actors use information operations in conjunction with other cyber-attacks to achieve their objectives....

Microsoft To-Do has been developed by the team behind Wunderlist, the Berlin-based startup acquired by the Redmond giant two years ago. To-Do aims to become everything Wunderlist couldn’t – smarter and aesthetically more modern. It features all the essential ingredients required in a to-do app such as adding tasks, reminders, deadlines, notes, categories but the cornerstone here is something called “Intelligent Suggestions”. Unfortunately, though, you’ll have to use a Microsoft account to sign up and I hate to tell you this, it’s still a terrible experience....
